Learn how to generate consistent income in sideways markets using this powerful, risk-defined options trading strategy.
When markets lack a strong directional trend, directional option buying often suffers rapid theta decay. The Iron Condor is designed specifically to capture decaying option premium while maintaining strictly capped downside risk.
Anatomy of an Iron Condor An Iron Condor consists of four option strikes with the same expiration date: - **Sell 1 OTM Call** and **Buy 1 Higher Strike OTM Call** (Bear Call Spread) - **Sell 1 OTM Put** and **Buy 1 Lower Strike OTM Put** (Bull Put Spread)
Trade Management Rules - **Entry Timing**: Best deployed when Implied Volatility (IV) percentile is above 60, allowing you to sell rich premiums. - **Profit Target**: Take profit when 50% of the maximum credit is captured. - **Risk Control**: Exit or adjust the losing wing whenever the underlying index touches the short strike.
